Hey everyone, it's your favorite GCS player here (I hope I'm your favorite!)
I have been saving up to get another tank general after relying on reliable Pavlov and Guderian for so long, and I've been comparing Bastico and Rommel wondering which I should invest in. Most likely I will end up getting both eventually, I'll probably develop Bastico into a crazy offensive tank general giving him 6 stars in tank as well as inspiration for his fourth skill, while Rommel will most likely get Panzer Leader and rumor for his two free skill slots. Do you all have any recommendations for whom to get, or if my plans are any good?

Bastico is more of a late-game general.

That's my current preference, to be honest. Bastico is to be a gen that forces a breakthrough while Rommel is to be a supporting, secondary gen that is used for breakthroughs whenever possible.
I'd say having at least one Rumour tank and 2 Rumour arty is good for Scenario mode because you may need to open a 2nd front or hold a specific target. That's where Rommel will be useful.

If it's for campaign progress, Rommel If it's for late game, still Rommel
Because in late game you will have exclusive biography title and that will be useful than Bastico's retaliation.
Bastico is my 4th tank gen after Monty, and with inspiration he's really useful in challenge conquest where there's so many friendly unit to trigger retaliation. While Rommel's rumor will take part for his defense (defensive events).

Most likely you already have Rumor on your Guderian. Therefore choosing it as another skill of your next Tank general is a bit an overkill at the stage of the game, imo. You probably already have Konev with Rumor as well. Since we can get access to 2 Assault medals quite early in the game it makes sense to choose Blitzkrieg instead. Leave Rumor for Artillery and Navy generals (you can easily deploy your Admirals in land battles just because of Rumor and in majority of missions we can deploy 10-12 generals anyway) I always deploy Mikava and Darlan on Artillery units because they do just that - confuse opponents. Tanks are created for damage ( not being damaged is another form of damage ). The only one exception is Guderian because Rumor and Blitzkrieg is an OP combination and only Guderian out of all f2p generals can have it without compromising his overall damage.

Thanks for all of your advice, it seems that Rommel is winning a unanimous victory Thus, I bought 40% discounted Rommel and I added PL to him, although I don't have enough medals to get blitzkrieg or rumor - so I have time to mull over stoic's point about choosing Rommel's second skill. Again, thanks for all of your help!

Rommel. He is a Gold tier, 5 skill slot general, elite unit bonus perks, with 40% discount and could even be used as a hybrid Artillery gen in a pinch for Warzones. Also, Imagine him on a T44, with his base crossfire skill, in Africa during conquests. He gets +2 bonus movement, no terrain penalties, and with his desert damage, will go from Southern Spain, into Africa, through Middle East, India and Western China as if he had wings. Mine has 21 mobility on a T44, with +2 firing range. Also, giving him class-Neutral Skills, like explosives, rumor, inspiration, etc. Will allow him to also fight from Artillery units in a pinch if you dont have a big roster. Like in Warzones. Used wisely, he is very good. Now ill leave it to you to list what Bastico can do for comparison.
