I'm not saving up. Unless she's somehow better than Okuni I don't intend to upgrade her. Even if she is I'll only go up to 4 stars.

I don’t think this matters that much since princesses don’t yield that much broken blades in comparision to magatama imo. Especially once you approach the point where you’re maxing out several golds/purples/blues. The only really consequential gift is coral since it’s so common. I’ve already earned more broken blades from Chacha by giving her the coral than I would have by giving it to Oichi.
I’ve saved up. But it’s no big deal if you don’t do that.

What item would it be? I'm hoping Yoshihime and Garasha(?) stop sharing Tea Wares first and someone use the Painting & Caligraphy set.

Yes I used the same reasoning and have just about maxed out Kichyo and Nene, but I'm now convinced that was a bad decision. The reason: after you unlock them (might as well do that anyway), it takes 15 * 25 = 375 of the preferred gift before you start getting broken blades, meanwhile by putting them into a maxed hime you'd already have 630 BBs. In other words, by investing in maxing another hime instead of gifting the one you're maxing anyway, you have to give 650 gifts just to break even (and your save probably isn't paying back; it's just starting to catch up). By the time you manage to farm that many gifts, you're getting a lot of BBs from sources other than himes. If you account that they're more important early on when you don't have a lot of other sources, you maybe never catch up. I think Chacha is worth maxing because red coral is abundant, but starting over, I'd put everything else into the best hime there is. Right now that's Okuni. If anyone actually has 5-600 paintings saved up, I will eat my words. Edit: I have of course failed basic arithmetic, the break even point is 750 gifts, not 650. |

Paintings are rare, to be honest, and none of the princesses want it.

I don't think it matters too much whether you're saving up or not - I personally have a stockpile of paintings and calligraphy (but not nearly enough to reach the break even point!) and will most likely give it to the hime who prefers it. I'm almost certain there will be someone new who favors it, my guess will be on Senhime but I could be entirely wrong. But, I also have doubts that anyone new will bring anything new to the table, and am also almost certain that it'll be just simply more efficient and better to give all your calligraphy to Oichi/Okuni.
Princesses are a small part of your broken blade income though and take a long time to even bring a profit, so frankly I would say that they're nowhere near an important aspect of this game. I'm giving everyone their favored items even though I'm now changing my tune on how feasible it is compared to a more focused approach (it now seems that Okuni + Chacha is the best way to go for efficiency) and I doubt it'll bring much effect in the long run.
I doubt Yoshihime/Garasha will ever stop fighting over who gets the tea wares. I think the best response is neither and give it to Okuni instead, but I like Garasha too much and have made her the chosen one.
Most hime items are rare. The only ones I've seen with any sort of frequency are red coral. The others to me seem to appear just as often as each other.
