So, basically I have a question for you guys. I have ammased a little over 4000 medals since I started playing WC4 again (haven't played in over a year and events, challenge mode and elite forces are totally a new thing to me) and I want to expand my general fleet or improve skills on the current generals.
I have been really struggling with dealing with spams of generals in challenge conquest mode. Only win I had so far was with USA in 23 moves and it was due to my ability to ignore generals and just capture cities & ports while basically ignoring the main army. Playing with USSR or Germany it's basically impossible to just go around them (you will get to Moscow or Berlin quickly or even further but it is painfully slow after that and remaining gens which you can't kill will make your life miserable). My armor, arty, inf, navy and air tech is fully upgraded. I would like a few tips here in regards to this from the players that already kinda dominated this mode.
In terms of my current generals, I have: Guderian (rumour lvl 5) Rommel (rumour lvl 3) Rokossovsky (rumour lvl 3) Rundstedt Konev Leeb Dowding Nagumo Nimitz (rumour lvl 3) Pavlov Horton.
What would you advise me, which general to go for? Should I add some skills to existing ones?
Looking forward to your answers. Any kind of a tip you can give me is really welcome. Thank you all in advance.

I think that you have more than enough generals, to be honest. And buying one more won't change anything. What you are lacking is the depth. Usually in ET games one fully upgraded general is better than 3 rough recruits. And WC4 is no exception. You have to upgrade skills of your generals and equip them with best Ribbons you can. And by saying "upgrade" I mean lvl 5 upgrades. Here is an example I have less generals than you have and we both have Rommel and Konev. Yet, I assume that my Rommel and Konev are significantly better upgraded. Here is my Rommel. He has 4 lvl 5 skills, is equipped with 3 Ribbons and has a special bonus for commanding Elite units unlocked Obviously such Rommel is a serious force to be reckoned with. But if you have Rommel with lvl 2/3 skills, without any good Ribbons equipped and without his special chapter completed, I can say that you'll have some serious troubles here and there.

stoic Thank you very much for this response, extremely useful. My Rommel looks nothing like yours. Equipped with legion & conqueror medals (basically useless), panzer defense lvl2 ribbon and rumour 3, he is good, but definitely not great. Works well with Guderian in a duo and they could be abolishing any unit & general in a matter of seconds, but as a sole general when my generals are split accross multiple fronts and he has to pull the weight, he just isn't that good, especially at this stage of the game. What do you recommend, what other skill should I add, besides rumour 5 which I will do as soon as I open the game? Is inspiration skill any good? I can't seem to understand what does it actually do, either I am lacking comprehension of English language or understanding of the game, or both. Thank you for your detailed response once again.

Actually, I suggest you change the wording in it. Because gud nim and rokko and leeb will have the rumor. I think he should include another damage skill (I chose inspiration) with pl. And, all your genes need to be upgraded well. My own guderian, for example, can clear a large area in one turn.

With Rumor there is only one rule of thumb. As with every good thing - don't overuse it Having Rumor on Rommel is not a blunder or mistake by any means. But you always have to think in terms of the team not individual generals. As it was pointed out two of your Artillery generals are Rumor debuffers. Guderian too. On most occasions it is more than enough. But there are plenty of exceptions, of course. Sometimes we simply don't have other choices and rely on individual actions rather than on team work. Rumor has one significant drawback. It is useless against weak opponents. And the main task of a Tank general is to kill as many weak units as possible before attacking "bosses". Yet, Rumor is exceptionally good against powerful opponents. Nothing is more satisfying than attacking overpowered Manstein who is disabled and is a sitting duck . So, judging all pros and cons I would say keep Rumor for the time being. Most likely you will find it more profitable than another form of additional damage. As to his last skill I would say that PL is a head above the rest of skills. It is the best way to increase the damage of a general and it synergies well with Honor Ribbons. I personally don't have a single general without skills of this type: Panzer Leader/Fleet Leader/etc.
