Honestly though, this is pretty trivial. Just go at them with sensible units and you’ll win. I totally didn’t need to get the Swordmaster for this. (Though I would have gotten it anyway for conquest so no big deal. So is this a repeatable kind of mission which resets every so often, like the multiplayer mode in EW7, or is it one time only?

2050 for Swordmaster?! Thankfully, it's just slightly under the most expensive Ban-kin unit in-game and for teppo, huh.
If the arena is not that difficult for mid-game gens, perhaps there is not a lot of pressure to buy all units. Any confirmation?

It’s a three stage boss rush that repeats every 2-3 weeks. And you can go at it as many times as you want, but once you win and get the stuff there’s nothing to do with it until the next one comes out. Pretty disappointing honestly. The enemies are a bit beefy (6000 HP) and you HAVE to beat them with the six guys you choose and you can’t use food. But even then they’re pretty trivial to beat.

You’ll have plenty even if you drop the Rain Covering and Odzutsu handcannon. It’s being strong enough in general to go at it. The enemies have 6000 HP and deal 100-150 to each of my guys. I’d have no chance if I was in the early game. But I’d say it’s probably slightly more demanding than Kimotsuki, though the requirements to beating it reliably are very different. And you can’t cheese it with food.

Update's out in Android now, and yeah Oki Island went pretty smoothly for me. Was able to get top rewards first try. I think the analysis is pretty spot on, a little harder than Kimotsuki, but in a different kind of way. Thanks SolidLight for posting your observations, definitely helped me pick my teams.

I used all teppo for the first guy, for the second most of my best melee but kept one or two back, for the last one I used Hojo and Sorin on mortar and DoP to hit without counterattack, and for the rest my hardest hitting remaining generals regardless of type. Pretty straightforward clear, the first level turned out to be the most difficult.

Must be doing something wrong because I can't do shoot against the second guy

Must be doing something wrong because I can't do shoot against the second guy It’s probably the ninjas he spawns. He’s more or less invincible as long as there’s any ninjas around.

Must be doing something wrong because I can't do shoot against the second guy Yeah, you're right, ranged attacks don't really do anything to the second guy because he resists 75% of ranged attacks. Melee is the way to go with him to actually deal damage. Also a word of warning that every 25% of his health he will summon 8 ninjas and will resist every attack while these ninjas are still alive, so stop attacking him at that phase and focus on killing the support. He won't move and can't hurt you if you're not next to him - which is probably why ET doesn't want you to use ranged gens on him.
Edit: Annoyingly nowhere have I seen how much "decreased damage" is for the "Call for Allies" skill, but from experience I can confirm it's basically 99% - don't bother just like attacking the final guy with teppo gens. You'll deal 1 damage no matter what you do, skills, crits, normal attacks, etc.

All you've wrote here is true. Mortars on 3rd one, no muskets, second is tricky, so not tooclose, but rather like on Waltzing Mathilda... 1st , I feed him with arrows and bullets. Mission accomplished. btw, i had half of my gens without equipment, after conquer , so it was also an issue. Thanks again.

How do I beat the 2nd guy? He wipes out my lvl 10 guys.
The thing is, it would alright if he gets beaten into submission immediately, so I could use guerilla warfare using the skill that blocks counterattacks.
But he refuses. And flanking takes too long to lower his morale, on top of his +5 per turn (on top of the natural regeneration). I can't take about 200 dmg ×2 per turn.
I guess common units are not recommended.

Upgrade your level 10 guys and use special units (you should have enough). Seriously, it might be kind of a disappointing answer but I don't think there's really any trick to this one beyond what's already been said. Sometimes the answer really is just "you need more firepower".
