Sure!
Build a watchtower on the highlighted circle and pass a turn, scaring the Takeda army to retreat. Then move your units to the newly highlighted circles, revealing the cliff that Ieyasu mentioned in his dialogue. After that, sneak around either side (I prefer the left) careful to not be spotted by the front troops and attack the rear cavalry in Shingen's group, causing his front troops to walk straight off the cliff and disappear into nothingness. Now just beat up Shingen until your reinforcements arrive and the mission ends. This should work for both normal and hard.

When the game mentioned the rear, it means the part of the Takeda towards the northern end of the map. Also, the yellow circle can kill friendly troops like Hanzo.
Keep about 3 spaces away from the nearest Takeda unit. Once you beat Shingen's main forces, you should encircle him and lay direct siege to his position. Beat him into confusion and quickly poke him until he retreats. (I assume that you are a mid-game to late-game player because Shingen hits HARD, and you must take the blow.)
Ignore the Takeda reinforcements, if any. Also, I'm not sure what causes our allies to show, but best to finish Shingen off to win the battle. Additionally, I'm not sure if we need to beware food shortages, but you can build a college => lvl 1 + lvl 2 farm => 3× ashigaru (with gen) or lvl 1 market.

Based on my admittedly pretty lacking testing, it appears that Shingen retreats upon reaching half health while all his accompanying troops are dead. The Akazonae infantry to the far north and the ashigaru reinforcements are ignorable. If you have generals with skills to deal damage without receiving a counterattack, they may be good against Shingen. Motonari's skill which cuts damage dealt is a lifesaver because of Shingen's high damage. Getting caught on hard is pretty much a reset imo. I don't think it's worth trying to kill the entirety of Shingen's army especially since there Yamagata Masakage and a bunch of teppo samurai will appear as the reinforcements instead of the weak ashigaru units. It's more doable on normal, but again it's probably easier to do the gimmick instead, especially since you won't have to actually kill Shingen. I think the yellow circle represents the unstable cloth bridge over the steep cliff of Saigagake. Yeah, perhaps it's best to not send your troops over the cliff. Fun fact, when I first played this mission, I thought the yellow circles were where I had to place my units instead of the representation of Ieyasu's trap. Needless to say that was aggravating, although I did manage to get Hideyoshi there (to his death presumably).

Worth noting that instead of skipping the first turn, you can move units forward, or onto the spots where the white circles will appear. It's not a game changer but will save you a turn.
