Hi all, Is there a difference between the different "series" of games? (e.g. European War, World Conqueror, Glory of Generals) I myself have only played WC2 and GCR. Thanks P.S. This is a really great community! And has been very helpful too! I have been an occasional lurker.

Hi all, Is there a difference between the different "series" of games? (e.g. European War, World Conqueror, Glory of Generals) I myself have only played WC2 and GCR. Thanks P.S. This is a really great community! And has been very helpful too! I have been an occasional lurker. Welcome on board Well, there is a difference but it isn't that great. Some games like GoG are more tactical. You don't have many tools for managing your generals, so, you basically have to work with what you have. Your main weapon is a careful planning and understanding of your own strengths and weaknesses and those of your opponents. In WC games you have more options. You can add one or two additional skills to your generals and to a certain extent control their equipment. In EW series you have a wide variety of choices for how to equip your general. It is possible to choose skills of your generals only in one particular game, namely EW6 1914. In EW 7 in comparison you can't have any control over it. The time periods vary from one game to another (EW5 - 2000, EW7 - 1000, EW6 - 50, EW6 1914 - WW1) GCR and GCS are usually not that large in scope as other games. The time period is limited (GCR - late Republic/early Principate; GCS - Sengoku period). And your generals are from this particular historic period. You can equip them as you like, but you can choose skills of only one general (GCR).

Thanks stoic. With how many games there are it's nice to know that easytech are trying to make different games each time. I'm enjoying GCR right now, so I'll likely continue with that, but your descriptions have made me consider playing the next GoG that comes out. The generals collection / customization is probably a big draw to some but I feel it takes too much importance in GCR (so probably the same in the EW or WC games). Maybe I'll also play another GC if the time period is one I am interested in. GCR impressed me with the attention to history of the campaign. I guess I do enjoy the bit of roleplaying that the custom commander provides.

As a matter of fact, first GoG games (GoG Classic and Gog Pacific) were extremely difficult and only a handful of players were able to complete them. GoG 3 however is an excellent game for new, casual or less experienced players and it is a good choice to continue your journey. GCS is also a good game (and only of medium difficulty as well) but Japanese history of 16th-17th centuries is not everyone's cup of tea. I suggest you to watch some videos of this period before you start. Here are some Oh, you could watch Shogun TV series too

Cool videos. Well, I didn't get too far into them... Don't want to risk starting GCS... one easytech game at a time is enough for me. Thank you for the recommendations. I will try GoG 3 when I get the chance.

I will try GoG 3 when I get the chance. You are absolutely right: One ET game at a time is enough. Otherwise there's always a risk of losing your concentration. It is usually not the case when you can kill two birds with one stone.
