I was tryna beat it with no hq generals in the process of trying to make a guide, but it seems impossible.
Mercer’s army in the south manages to take over toulon and marseille, but Mercer army is already crippled by then. With Mercer’s terrible movement of 9 and mountainous terrain around marseille, it is impossible to take over Lyon without the use of medpacks, as Grouchy arrives. By the time I do take over, Soult and Exelmans arrive and attack Marseille. With the measly economy and Mercer’s business 1 star, eventually we run out of resources and both Lyon and Marseille are taken back by the French, and Mercer is just crippling dead at this point. Even if we immortalize Mercer with infinite medpacks, eventually he starves to death because we literally couldn't capture a single farm.
Meanwhile, for the Wellesley crew at north, I tried 3 pathways. In all 3, the heavy artillery gets targeted by the AI and gets killed. Anyways, 1st path was to rush Davout, but insane amount of French gathered and obliterated Wellesley. Namely Davout himself, Grouchy, double formation armored car, and artillery spam. 2nd path was to go to Bordeaux through water, but Drouot kept chasing and Soult made it impossible to land nearby. 3rd path, I tried to just invade from Northwest and kill Druot, but artillery spam also came in.
How can I beat this stage with no generals? Is it even possible?
