I recall reading that attack bonus items like swords, powder, & pistols can stack. So two +1 attack Brown Gunpowders can add +2 to your general's attack. I have two Brown Gunpowders and two Trooper Sabres and I can equip both to the same general or have both in my inventory at the same time.
I recently purchased two Powder Mixtures (+4 attack artillery) from stores in the Emperor's Fall mission in the Coalition campaign. However, I am unable to equip both on the same general. I also can't put both into my inventory at the same time. If one is in inventory, I can't remove the other from a general. Is this normal? Can you not have two +4 items equipped for the same general as you can for +1 items? Or is something bugged? One was purchased from Poznan and the other from Warsaw, so I don't think it was a bug on buying the same item twice, though I did buy both in the same play of this mission.
Thanks-

Cornbread Buying two things from different places won't change anything. The two things should stack. I know this is a stupid question but are you assigning them to your own general? For me I could have two things in my inventory that are exactly the same they'd just be in different spots

I am trying it with my Princesses or generals I have bought from the Academy. I can give them two Brown Gunpowders. But I can only give them one Powder Mixture (+4). I just bought a second cavalry sword (+4 attack) and I can equip two, so it doesn't appear to be an issue with +4 attack items.
When they already have one Powder Mixture and I select a second one from inventory, the equip button shows up but is greyed out and I can't select it. If I have one in inventory and I try to unequip a second from a general, the unequip button is similarly greyed out. This is the only duplicate item this happens with for me. The only thing I can think of that was different about this item is that I bought them both from the same mission. It kind of defeats the purpose of having two if I can't equip them both on my best artillery general . I'd try selling one back to try buying it again to see if that fixes it, but I recall reading that items sold back are lost forever.

This seems to be a bug. Can you give one to each of two different generals?

Are you sure, you have bought both items? I faced a similar problem with the +4 Powders in Poznan and Warzaw. I could only buy one of those and, on my question in this forum, Kanue or Saltin enlightened me that one can only have one of each item per campaign. With the same items from different campaigns I do not have any problems.
Why they have put in two items then in the same campaign is another story...

Ah, and on your concerns of items lost forever: This is not a problem. I have sold my powder+1 (or whatever it was) from the Copenhagen Campaign elsewhere, but could buy it back in the original campaign without problems.
The program is apparently only checking if you have the item from the respective campaign in your inventory and denies buying another one.
So, if you have a 5-Star Business General, sell one of those +4 powders (I always use Siege of Mantua for selling) and buy another one from the "Continental System" scenario in the HRE campaign, if you proceeded that far. Then everything should be fine and you should be able to work with the +4 item from coalition camapaign and the new one simoultanesly.

Yes- I can give one of each to different generals and they both appear to work and increase damage. They just won't play nicely together.

Malepartus: I did get both as I can use them both. And I agree- strange the are both available in the same mission in the same campaign.
I think you're right on the campaign check. And it appears to be for letting it go in your inventory at all, not just buying. If I have one of my Powder Mixtures in inventory, I can't unequip the second from another general. It must be a flaw in the logic that it doesn't check correctly when both are for sale in the same mission. I don't see any other items available like that (using the great item spreadsheet someone posted).
Great news on not losing an item on selling. I'm nearly done with Coalition & Imperial Eagle (been doing them in parallel), so I'll plan on selling one back I get far enough in HRE.
Thanks!
