Do you think it's a plausible idea to be able to lock one's own posts? For instance, when Global War plan is finished I dont want people flooding it out and things of that nature, and right now I don't want them blocking the flow of the update log, and I dont want to put the log in the actual post because Im lazy. Is this a decent idea?

Just set 3 posts in a row, like this
"Reserved for updates in future" Post
"Reserved for updates in future, you may post now" Post
99% of the time, you would have plenty of space for all of your updates. I could be wrong but I believe the max char limit for a normal post (not a quick reply) is something like 10k or around there which is normal for a forum to be that way. 30k is like an entire page and half
