I will just give a few strategies for survival and general conquests tips
I handle any Kamikaze general (AKA Lannes and Washington) by
1. If any Arty nearby, rally them towards the Gen
2. Build one fortification (Coastal fort is cheap but Wooden fort holds out longer) so the AI will target them, Not arty
3. If the damage is over 40 at low health, Normally i just surround him with weak and near dead forces or fortifications and bombard him. Rarely do I attack such Generals with my generals except arty (regardless of health) as such generals can easily suck out their health.
4. Take him out and
In conquests such as America 1812 and 1775 and campaigns, I handle amphibious invasive forces by
1. Keep any economic general near a city and build it (example put Jackson in Washington 1812)
2. Spam light and heavy arty (or grenadiers/guards cavalry) to counter the enemy (helpful in campaigns such as Great Sea warfare)
3. If necessary, put Forts to prevent any troops landing or just distract arty fire.
4. Once have some advantage, pursue some (Take
Washington with other troops to finish Collingwood and Howe once Hesse has been taken)
5. Abandon nearby ports initially and when in strong position, I spam frigates.
ONLY PUT A GENERAL IF THEY LAND AND YOU CLEARLY SEE YOU ARE LOSING THE FIGHT
If in Campaign, when you have to protect a general , I do
1. Use him while he is at his best
2. If you can heal him when at half health by promoting
3. When fully promoted, put him rear (Example put Wellesley in Brussels once on low health0
4. Leave him until he heals to normal
5. If unable to maneuver situation, either just capture another compulsory city, so that u don't lose or just build forts until he can escape
I will share some more soon
