ASL? Do/did you have some form of hearing condition? I'm Deaf. Being Deaf is not necessary to learn ASL as a primary language btw, a hearing child may be born into a Deaf family and learn ASL first. This child would be called a CoDA (child of Deaf adult). Maybe 90% of children born to a Deaf couple tends to be hearing. And 90% of Deaf population tends to have no Deaf parents (this can cause massive issues in people's lives due to lack of connection provided by the hearing parents). I happen to be a rare occasion. I am Deaf but also born to a pair of Deaf parents. Keep in mind, Deaf and all... it's just being in a minority group that uses a different way to communicate rather than being a disabled people like the other types that we always get clumped together. Nobody else has this unique characteristic, so I stand by what I said and insist that there's a great difference between hearing loss and being Deaf. Of course, any further questions, I can answer in a separate thread. Maybe we should do it in a designated thread (or the random area). I have a good amount of questions

Jean-Luc Picard, here: european-war-4.boards.net/thread/2680/why-fair-deafI started with this thread, but I didn't continue since people felt too awkward about the topic. I figured it can wait some other time until someone has some questions to ask. You can start a different thread if you felt this one is a bit too much in confrontation. Here's something from when I was a kid, lol.[*Quote="Fox Mulder"]The truth is out there. [/quote]

Please make a separate thread if you haven't already, If it's alright with you, I can't help but be curious as to the life of a deaf man/woman (I know you're a guy, but anyone can be deaf). I didn't say anything offensive or inappropriate, did I???
