First time poster. Anyway, on to the fun stuff...
So, you enjoy EW4? Like killing the enemy? Want to do it better? Want to do it worse? Don't care? You might have come to the right place. First, some of my own tips. Feel free to comment with anything y'all have come across in your campaigning.
Note: most of this will be common sense/knowledge, but it is still nice to have a place for it all.
That's all I've found; anything else from anyone else?

- When attacking the enemy with Rockets, position yourself so as to allow multiple enemies to be hit at once. For example, in the following image, you see that Sophia (on rockets) can hit Paget, but she will also strike the infantry beyond Paget.
- Always move heavy cannons/siege arty by sea when possible if there is no general attached. That way, you move 2 tiles instead of one tile.
- A simple envelopment results in a drop of one eagle of morale; a full encirclement drops them down to double blue/purple eagle. Full encirclement + cav charge means they are useless.
- Try to fight from inside cities; you regain a bit of health that way.
- When attacking a unit, I use a method to get the most bang for my buck; I first attack with arty, then cav generals; if they don't kill the unit, I attack with cav. Then infantry generals, then infantry. This way, I maximize my ability to capture the tile the unit is on, or at least free up my troops by killing the enemy before they can do anything.
- Treat generals you have to keep alive like an antique; don't use them often, but always find a use for them. For example, I used Blucher in Battle of Lützen to hold up the north, and splashed him into combat when he would be useful. Same with early Napoleon; use him if you need to kill something quick, not for sustained fighting.
- Hit enemy generals from as far as possible.
- Use the generals the game gives you; if you get a terrible fighter, but an economy master, put him on a city and let him bring you money.
- More for conquest than campaign, but upgrade your cities early and quickly; they will pay dividends approximately 6 turns post-finish.
- Weigh everything you can before you recruit a unit; a triple-formation grenadier is equal to a double-strength guards unit in health, uses more food, and can have less attack. In some cases, the guards are better. However, as Erich von Manstein pointed out, it can vary based on country, and the output formula. Links here for both:

european-war-4.boards.net/thread/2124/ew4-countries-unit-system-analysis - If the enemy is tough to kill in a certain area, hit him elsewhere; flank him, envelop him, and kill him. If that fails, steal his farms, and wait.
- Definitely exclusive to campaigns; don't gun for five stars the first time. Do it once, do it twice, find out how to do it better, and do it.
- Don't attack coastal "forts" with ships; use arty, grenadiers, guards, guards cav, a broken toothpick, anything except a ship.
