Is there a way to tell how much health (?) a city has left?
I mean after you've killed the unit sometimes you still have to "kill" the city before you can take it, I'd like to know how many more hits are required.

There's no way , keep hitting until it reaches 0. From experience you'll roughly know the HP of cities

Do what I did and spend a bit attacking different cities. You'll eventually get a general idea of their HP amount:P

I think the I city has 90 hp or something. What I notice is a city level is estimatedly equal to the number of LRB needed to take it down (without unit in there and no AA).

I just took an armored car and attacked a city ten times (Killed it, then restarted). Take the damage min and max, find the midpoint of this, and then find the mean of your results.

Thanks guys, I mainly wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.
I do have a rough idea based on experience, but could be so much more efficient if I knew exactly how much HP was left rather than having to rely on guesswork and intuition.
The absolute worst though is when you've nearly broken a city but have to wait one more turn and one of your allies sneaks in and takes it instead!

I agree, especially if the country you choose requires a quick capturing of a specific city, that involves another strategy OuO

I think it matters what lvl it is lvl 1 has lowest health and highest Lvls like enemy capitals have most health.

Fortunately, in 1950 and 1960, it's a lot easier to grab a city for yourself.
If I'm earning well over 1k gold per turn, at this point, it's easier to rain down nukes (or even just empty missles without warheads) onto the cities and swoop in with a PMI (either flown in or already on the ground, move quickly across the battlefield and jump into the freshly cleaned out city).
For 50/60: This problem is a lot easier than 1939 or 1943 in general to resolve.
