I am trying to do my first conquest and I am wondering Which nation I should pick (this is all on 1939).

russia for start. spam field artillery and tanks, infantery is useless in this game. focus on cities, when you have all the cities of the hostile country it will surrender.
i guess you like paradox games? my personal favorite is eu4

Would have suggested Spain 1939, then Brasil 1943 (Spain for Auto, Brasil for its relative easiness (as long as the British doesn't capture Casablanca and/or Algiers in the beginning)), but I guess USSR 1939 is easier for early-campaign conquests (as I usually get Badoglio before any conquest other than Spain).

I find Germany 1939 to be truly easy. Map is weighed heavily towards axis, and Guderian and Manstein are OP

For me, Britain is easy too in 1939. You just need to be careful not to let your generals die easily.
Never disregard infantry troops though, I used a combination of modernized infantry and artillery + tanks and it works wonders. Never underestimate mobility in this game, because running fast n far does help.

Motorized Infantry is the only useful infantry. Others are crap. Use them, but save the generals (except air generals) for your tanks and artillery

Assuming you have early generals and poor tech, the conquests are:
1939: Germany, Romania, Finland/Hungary/Bulgaria
1943: UK, India, Egypt
1950: USSR/PRC
1960: Iran, PRC
After you've upgraded your tech a bit, play Norway 1939, Germany/Japan 1943, Iran/Iraq & Egypt 1950, USSR & Romania 1960. Now you've got all conquest medal.
Follow the conquest & campaign guide. Use Motorized Infantry for WW2 era and Rocket Artillery and Nukes for Cold War era as main forces.

I did a 1939 as the Soviet Union but you have to have good general and tech

1939: Japan/UK, ROC/Spain, Finland.
1943: UK/USSR/Germany, ROC, Egypt.
1950: UK/France, Spain/Australia, ROC/Hungary.
1960: UK/PRC, Italy, Iran.
1975: USSR/PRC, UK/Germany, Japan/Iraq.
