Both are farmable, but rank grinding sets are harder to make. Still, nobility farming is in the highest tier of boring.
This is a hard choice, but War Expert/Master.

Arty gen: Nobleman (not the unit that'd kill other units first most of the time)
Cav gen: War Expert (kills units)
Inf gen: same as arty
Navy gen: lol what?
Since I have a system of when to farm nobility, War Expert.

When looking at the two generals the damage they do is not that far apart.
Auchinlek has 3 stars in tank compared to Crerar's 2 stars and has lvl 2 plain fighting.
This makes it so when fighting in plains Crerar only does does 4 more damage than Auchinlek.
However in other terrain types Auchinlek will do more damage with his extra star.
