I have a couple of questions
Should I have a Trading General? Is having one necessary/needed/practical/worth it?
Who is the Best Trading General you can buy with medals?

Not a dedicated one, but someone with 5 trade stars. You should buy Arnold early on, and regroup him into Isabela
