Pretty simple actually, just try to defend Kiev, put the tanks in the south and artillery in the north. Defend your smaller city with infantry. This way you can destroy many attacking German forces. If Manstein comes, DO NOT attack him directly, as it is a waste of health. Try to blast him with Land Fort and Artillery. If the attacking German forces is gone, attack the German position in the North. The AI will help you with artilleries. This tactic works with Bronze and Silver difficulties. As with Gold, it is more complicated.

You can only win this easily with a decent commander, like Eisenhower. But if go for a manstein at the least to defeat it.

I build a fort at Kiev and then just try holding the city with a few troops. At the same time send most of your troops (I recommend having an artillery general (Badoglio or Govorov) and a tank commander (if you want gold stars use Guderian)) to the north and defeat Greim. While I was playing on bronze with no generals the Soviets came in and helped but that didn't happen anymore when going for silver and gold stars.

Ive been playing WC3 on and off for a few days first time ever playing the franchise. Stupid question how do i level up my generals. I have 3 generals with one star in each skill group and two generals with one 3 star in infantry and one 2 star in tanks. Ive done many missions but they never gain more stars. Cant beat any conquests my generals die fast. Do i promote them, bc ive done so twice with one of the generals having one star in each and he got a skill weak but did not gain any stars. Thanks in advance...

Thanks in advance... Your 3 generals that have one star in each category(we call them "eye covered generals") can be bought either abilities or health at the several military academies(green logos on map). To upgrade their health, click on the promote button when you open up an academy. However this is not effective at all. We overwhelmingly agree that you should strive to purchase begginer generals instead of upgrading your eye covered ones. For example, go for Badoglio, Cerar, or Ozawa.

Generals doesn't gain exp or anything like that so they won't upgrade on their own. eye-covered guys should be upgraded only when you have atleast 6 best generals you can get in this game.

So for the guys that you cant see thier eyes, the green icon where you buy new generals, promote will level up thier health, and tutorial will give them stars in a certain category. Because i clicked on Istanbul and it showed that id gain 2 gold stars? I just dont have enough medals to get it. Thankyou for the previous information it was very helpful. I still havent been able to beat any conquest years. Im currently level 12 hq seems it has helped i still have to surround enemies but my troops are just too weak. Thanks again everyone.

No problem, I would highly recommend clicking on your eye covered generals and dismissing them to get refunds.

Try 1939 conquests I highly recomend Japan as it has axcess to most fronts + good generals. It is possible without any additional gens.

So i restarted wc3 for the simple reason i screwed myself from the get go. I have 2 of the three slots filled now with the "useless" generals but i cant dismiss them due to me not buying any generals right now. I currently have almost 900 medals im saving up for when im a higher level to buy a general in the low 1000 medal range. Im going to try Japan in the 1939 conquest ill update on how i do. I also noticed when i did a mission when i killed an enemy general all my troops on the battlefield gained the gold eagle with the red arrow pointing up, can that be produced again in conquest if so how do i actually get my troops like that, bc i am unsure if it was from killing the general or i did something special.

It means that the morale of that unit is rising, killing enemy units sometimes let that happen, same as AI.

There is a random chance 1of 15 of high moral to all units spawn when you kill enemy general. This is conquests only as campaign has different rules. It was covered by Russian forum a while ago.
