Here is a brief on it. The Geography portion will benefit Quintus Fabius tomorrow when mapping.
The Native Population of the Area was small. Most sustenance came from Fishing. They had little contact with the outside World. This all changed when the Jews came.
In 1385, a group of Ashkenazi Jews, belonging to a splinter group that called for Jews to establish a new homeland until the Messiah comes, arrived in this province. They named their city Derleyzung (Yiddish for "Salvation") and settled down. They used their advanced technology to establish good relations with the Natives, and eventually the Natives asked to be converted into Judaism.
In 1492, following the Spanish deportation of the Jews, a group of Spanish Jews arrived on the Island. They joined with the existing Group, and intermingled until they became one.
In 1572, following the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre, a group of French Huguenots fled France. They came to a place South of the established Jewish settlement, and named it Nouvelle-Amiens.
Over time, Nouvelle-Amiens traded Lumber for Derleyzung's fish, forming a prosperous and mutually beneficial relation.
In the 1600's, the Northern Settlements began to Trade more with Riklän. A major Carriage Route was established. This linked the North to the South of the Island. The Jews Built a new Port City named Sha'ar Ha'i (Hebrew for "Gate of the Island") west of Derleyzung. They also founded Ya'arit ("Wooded" in their dialect of Hebrew). In this time, a Jewish family began to exert considerable influence, and soon became the Dukes of the area
Following the Napoleonic Wars, a small group of Frenchmen came to the Province. They settled east of the Jewish settlements, and named their town Gustaville (after a Dog that found them a group of Deer to hunt). The River it was on was named after Napoleon.
During the Civil War of 1817-1833, the Province fought a successful defensive war. It weathered off 3 invasions. Its mediators helped write the Treaty of Saltingrad, forming the Confederacy
In 1890, the old Road to Riklän had a Railway built on it. They Railway linked Älvstad, Nouvelle-Amiens, and Sha'ar Ha'i, with branches to other Provincial Cities. This saw Sha'ar Ha'i become a key Port for traffic heading North, as it was linked to the South properly and could effectively receive goods.
During WWII, New Zion's population saw 70% of Draft-age men volunteer to fight. Most returned alive, and were supplemented by a small group of Holocaust Survivors.
In 1930, a man named Jean-Luc Picard was born in Gustaville. His family was a French-Jewish one. He served in the Navy, and rose to become an Admiral
In 2013, several leaders met in Nouvelle-Amiens to plan a Coup. In 2014, their men seized all Confederate garrisons, securing the Province. It became a base for Revolutionary excursions in the Northeast of the Country
