The DaneLaw, a region in Anglo-saxon England which consisted of the areas where danish, or viking, law reigned, after the invasion of the great heathen army in the 860s. I was going to mention York, which under a different name was the capital of the vikings in england, but realised I needed to use the last letter.

oops, I accidentally wrote my comment as if deso said it. Rorkes drift, also in south africa, was a mission station which saw a battle between 150 British troops and 3000 Zulus, right after a battle in which the main british force was defeated. this skirmish nonetheless saw a British victory.

Arcadia, Greece, on the same peninsula as mighty sparta. Also used in the name of Skies of Arcadia, a good RPG for the Sega Dreamcast, made in 2000.
In fact, apparently there are many cities and regions named after Arcadia, from America to Ukraine.
