Though I respect your correction that it's a gateway to the Indian Ocean, even though most of the country appears to be decidedly Pacific, but for one (major) Island. Anyway, Ruthenia. Derived from the Old Kievan Rus, Ruthenia used to be used by Ukranians to mean Ukraine. |
