Hi All I am new to the game and struggling to find a guide on a lot of the finer details. BTW, thanks to the creators and contributors to this site! It has helped a lot.
I've played through a couple of the campaigns and managed to get 5 stars on most missions. I've moved onto conquest 1798 and started as France. How do I "Win"? I am dominating the map so far but still have some opponents. Russia is the last major enemy to take out. I'm on turn 45. Do I have to completely wipe everybody out? Is there a limit on number of turns to achieve Victory? What do I get for a Win?
Also, how do I add generals? If I recruit one in a tavern during a game do I get to keep him in other campaigns/conquests?
Thanks
magor

Conquest is completed by destroying all forts, and killing all enemies and capturing their towns/ports. Tavern generals are temporary and only last for that specific conquest. Best early generals are Princesses, who you can unlock by completing fast conquests. If you hurry, you may be able to unlock Sophia. Turn limit is 999 turns, so don't worry about that.

Oh and to add generals, in the home screen there us a tab that says Headquarters. If you go there and click academy, you can buy generals for medals. Tier 1 and 2 generals are free. I reccomend not buying any tier 1 generals. Just save for tier 2.

By free I mean you can earn them without real money

Thanks Mountbatten When you buy generals are they always added to future conquests/campaigns or do you have to preselect? After you buy a general, you can assign him to any unit by touching it and then a hat button will appear, touch it and then assign the general like infantry general goes to infantry units, artillery general goes to artillery, same with cavalry and navy

The general you buy from academy will be added to one of your general slot (you originally have 4). These generals are permanent and you can use them in campaigns and conquests. To assign a general, first, pick a unit and you will see a hat button at the bottom of your screen. Click that button and you can choose a general to command the unit.

Hello Magor and welcome to the forums! Just wanted to add that you don't need to attack the neutrals (black colors) or an any of your allies but all enemy unit/ships/buildings must be destroyed. Ships sometimes are easy to miss. If you start blue all red units are enemies,if you start red all blue units are enemies. On getting generals I recommend doing a little research before spending your medals as EU4 has both great value generals but also really bad ones There are a couple threads on this,or you can start new one if you need help deciding on which generals to get.

In order to get a princess, you need to complete a conquest faster. For example, you can get Sophia by finishing a Europe conquest within 65 rounds. Holy Roman Empire in 1798 is the best choice for a fast conquest.

Before you make your final move, save the game. This is in case you don't win a princess, you can reload the save and may win a princess that time. Also, you can see how good a general is by clicking info and the amount of stars next to an icon. ( Ex: Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry, and Navy) If you put them on a unit where they have lots of stars, they do more damage. Be sure to look at their skills too. Some good ones are Geography, Strike (for cavalry), Siege Master (extra damage to units) and Mass Fire (Full damage even if you are at 1 hp). They are some better ones and you can find a thread about all skills in the training camp I think

Hi I got victory in 63 moves playing as the HRE but still no Princess!! Do I have to defeat all the neutrals as well? It's pretty frustrating not knowing how many moves is needed to win a Princess! Any advice? Thanks

Magor, remember to save your game on the last turn. If you save you can reload the save AFTER you have won, and might win a princess that time. You can reload over and over till you get one, assuming you have the turn requirements. I think I got Sophia from GB 1798 ( my first completed conquest <3)
