If you block an enemy against the borders of the map like shown above, it's an instant double morale drop. My general Picton and those two forts have the Spanish General backed against the border, hence the morale drop.

Yeah I do it sometimes in the conquest when my generals are at the end of the screen and I still have to kill some generals/units/forts.

Yeap works also in WC3,borders are not accessible so AI thinks its unit is therefore completely surrounded.

Beautiful. This is going to be sooo useful dealing with Treville/Verhuell in America 1775 I noticed that the naval generals in 1775 like to run away to the border and hide. It adds so many turns to my turn count Remember that it won't work if you have them backed up against land. You will actually need infantry units or something to completely surround them even though they can't move onto land.

I remember doing this in EW3 and it was so fun when capturing Moscow.

I found a way to "trick" them out of that @#$% corner... Send a fleet of big ships in their direction and at about halfway there send either a frigate or schooner closer until they take the bait. Then retreat towards your fleet, they will chase it. Then you can surround and attack.
I use a similar tactic in 1806 as GB to draw the French admiral towards lower Ireland where I also have 3 shore batteries waiting and 3-4 frigates. About 3 grids (any direction) from the port is the "trigger".

I remember playing 1798 France and that little British ship was just camping back there by Anatolia. It added 15 turns to my conquest

I hate that ship I remember my first conquest and saw that one British ship by Anatolia. That was the moment I started hating to play as GB but I must admit the guide for it is pretty good.
