I'm almost sure I noticed some regeneration of one of my cavalry unites while farming for exp.. And excuse me my ignorance, but what does LV stand for?

LV stands for level and was a general on the cav unit. Welcome to our forum btw.

The non-commanded units ALL regenerate at some pathetically slow rate if you leave them be, but being in a city makes it significantly faster, as does having a general on board. A maxed-out general in a level 7 city with two military tents would recover 10 + 12 + 6 + 6 = 34 health per turn, probably more than they take in damage against most minor units. Out in the field it's still 22 health per turn, probably enough to regenerate fully when running for princesses but not enough for a slugging match in a campaign battle.

Tents only provide when regen out of the buildings and did nothing other than moving this turn.
