Ok so I'm still iffy on how regrouping works (as with most beginners of EW4). I know the basics, but I need some clarification. I have Sophia and I want to increase her skills; I know that regrouping is the way, but which way do I go? Do I press "regroup" on Sophia, or do I press "regroup" on the general I want to train Sophia with? Hopefully this makes sense

click the regroup on sophia, then the game automatically choose another general to regroup to Sophia. You can choose other general if you want. Remember that generals with trainer skill can increase your Sophia skill

You push regroup on Sophia. This is a little bit counter-intuitive, as you are selecting the individual you want to regroup INTO rather than the one you want to actually regroup. You need to be sure about which is which, because I think a few people around the place have accidentally lost very useful princesses this way.
The program does ask you if you are sure, and even provides an arrow to show you who is moving into whom, what items if any will be lost (make sure you de-equip your general of ALL items before you regroup him, or you will have to buy that all back again), and what the finishing stats of the recipient princess or general will be (so you know what you're gaining). But it can still be possible to get overexcited and push the button by accident, so stop and think, and if you have any doubts, quit out of regroup and go back in later.
Only generals who have the skills infantry, cavalry, etc. trainer in the top right will increase Sophia's capability in a particular field; the rest will only grant her nobility and rank bonuses.
