I just started the game and got about 1000 medals through campaign missions. I can't get any further without buying generals. What is the best start game general i should get with the medal i have? List seems like a good panzer commander while Weich seems like a good artillery one. Govorov and Vatutin seems like an upgrade of them but i can't seem to be able to get 1800 medals without buying any generals, is there a way? Or should i just buy a few cheap generals?

I say get List, then Badoglio and then Göring. After that go for the 5 star generals (Guderian, Rommel, Rokossovsky, etc.)

Not Rokossovsky, he only has 4 stars in tank and infantry and his skills are meant for tank and infantry.
Try to get Meyer, Ozawa (4 stars in navy and 3 stars in air and +100 max HP for 550 medals (!!!) ) and then maybe Badoglio, Weichs or List.
Meyer, Ozawa and Weichs were my starting generals and then I bought Vatutin and Konev

Badoglio and Göring are probably too expensive for starting generals. Anyway, here's my starting general list.
Greim (Air/Art) - Berlin 460
Meyer (Tank) - Berlin 300
Choe (Inf) - Moscow 470
Sokolovsky (Inf) - Moscow 410
Isakov (Navy) - Moscow 200
Koga (Navy) - Tokyo 240
Ozawa (Navy/Air) - Tokyo 550
Chung (Art) - San Francisco 440
Wingate (Inf) - London 490
I had used Meyer, Choe, and 3 eye-covered till I got Guderian

When I first started, I bought Witzelben (2 stars on all land forces, 1 star movement) from the Berlin academy. Although it would've been better to buy another general like Greim, Witzelben is a mediocre starter general. I'd go with kanue's generals
