Just restarted, wondering how to do it without Dumouriez this time.

For this early mission it seems that there isn't a true tactic. The only pain is far-away Brussels, so take Munich and Weilburg ASAP, build fort, line infantry to protect them. Massena and Moreau are near Munich, but if I remember right than Massena won't move, maybe Moreau. Still he alone is easy to handle. Problem is when after you take Weilburg. You need move as much units as you can, blitz through French army and quickly take Brussels. I think with a good route, it's not hard when French only have a 2* cav gen at this front.

5* with no gens. Break through the northern French settlement on the Rhine and blitz with Johann to Brussels. Ignore Verdun. Take Munich with the light cav and art. Hold against Moreau. Move on the southern Rhine settlement. Win. PS: Add more forces to Brussels. Maybe an infantry or cav. The heavy artillery along the Rhine should not cross the river, just bombard everything within cannon range of the eastern bank.

PPS:If Johann is low on health by the time you attack Brussels, use small forts to provide a distraction and some firepower against the city. It helps.
