I would like to ask if there a system where some units are stronger or weaker against others?

Almost but not quiet there. It looks like EasyTech though about it but didnt actually implement it,it's too bad really because that game feature can add a lot of strategy/fun to a game. What they sorta have right now:
+Strenght attack bonus from grenade troops (grenadiers and guards) against fortification/possibly ships too. -strengh attack bonus from gun troops (militia, line and light inf, armored cars) agaisnt fortifications/possibly ships too. + Strength attack bonus from machine gun units against all other Infantry and cavalry units.

I actually don't like "rock-paper-scissor" ststems, they're really overused. I prefer more multiple, but binary mechanics such as the ones present in Napoleon although it is true that the units present weren't exactly very diverse or unique. I still used most of them though, with a few exceptions like Grenadiers.

But grenadiers are excellent troops? Light infrantry on the other hand I find quite useless

Actually, I have found Grenadiers to be the worst infantry type in the game, because Guards. And when I don't use Guards, I use Lt. Infantry instead; there is literally no niche for Grenadiers to fill. The fact that it requires a Tier-4 city also makes it extremely awkward in terms of unit production because once again, Guards.
At least both Militia and Line Infantry have clear distinct features- Militia cheap cannon fodder that only costs gold, while Line Infantry is the most cost-effective when it comes to hp and you just want to stall. Grenadiers however are just stuck in the middle with no real redeeming features.

I rarely use Grenadier because of Elite Guard,as mentioned above. 2 stacks of Guards and 3 stacks of Grenadiers have about the same HP and cost, but Guards generally has higher attack. The only situation i find Grenadier useful is in campaigns where Guard is not available (I sold all the stars for medal). Light infantry can be good when assigned with a general. Its movement of 8 allows it to move only 2 hex as a normal unit but with 5 stars in movement general and +2 movement boots (which give a total 8 + 5 + 2 = 15) it can move 5 hex in 1 turn which is quite cool (esp. when you need to do things quickly in campaigns).
