You gonna love the game,it's a lot of fun but obviously this is also an Easytech game and that means some of these campaigns are gonna hurt..like hurt bad! But I know that you are up to the challenge and to get you started here is a pretty good thread on starting generals. european-war-4.boards.net/thread/83/first-general?page=1

While progressing you should try to buy generals that are trainers (these guys can be later regrouped or "combined" into powerful generals to increase the power of the general whose power you want to increase). Try to buy them as starting generals, after you have some money buy good generals or hunt for princesses and then regroup them into your stronger ones. Medals can be farmed easily in this game all thanks to our local medal strategy group (saltin, mountbatten and others) Last but not the least, after getting decent generals (in whom you gave regrouped your starting generals) buy them some items like +4 attack, +4 defense and +2 movement. These will increase their efficiency as well as resistance. For more info we have the training camp which has the strategies. For any questions than we have the campaign trail section. I think this'll be enough for now

My first general was Kuramil and my second was Senvayin. I didn't even know you could put them on units. I kept using them on forts thinking they boosted income or something. Looking back on it, I realize how silly that was

I grinded and grinded till I had Moreau. Then bought medals to regroup him into a 5 star-artillery general and then an infantry general. Surprise, surprise: Suvorov! Then it all became easier and I bought Treville.

I agree with khurram, trainers are good. I think Arnold (tier1, the screen w 6 generals) is a good choice because with 5 star trade you can buy items and return them at the same price if you dont want them. Kutaisov (tier1) artillery general I think has good skills for a cheap price too. It takes some time to level up the generals but if you want a general that makes a big difference right away I think you should go for someone with mass fire like dobeln which is in tier2 (the screen with 4 generals).

Great starting generals: Zakrevsky, Dumuoriez, Kutaisov, and Marmont. Why you ask? Because they are all super cheap and trainers, with the exception of Marmont, he is just cheap. But buying Scharnhorst is much more expensive than marmont, although he is better and a trainer.
