So apparently I need 250 literature (I'm at about 110) and I'm seriously wondering how I'm going to get it. The most I can get from a conquest is 30 from Persia in Empire Age or 20 from Greece in the first age. Those are both countries that start out with 3 cities though, and I don't really want to play them over and over again.
How did you guys get the 250? I've gotten all of those campaign green target bonuses so I've already claimed the 30 literature from there.

Hmm. I probably got it from greece partially, and some india and Angkor? Dunno which.
It gets even worse upgrading to gunpowder. 600!!!
I would like an answer too then. Currently just taking it easy, collecting the daily missions to get Li-shimin. At 350 literature.

You can also play classical inca which gives 15 literature and starts with a good amount of cities.
The way I got to 250 and beyond was by playing Greece than Inca conquest over and over again. The key was to have good enough generals so you will have a quick conquest. You will be able to use them to blitz the other countries and auto battle every battle with them.

I lost all faith in autobattle when my 1500 hp Caesar couldn't take a level 4 city with level 2 defenses. He didn't even fail the time limit. He actually died. I've been cautious about using it now

I've been cautious about using it now Huh. In later ages (level, not upgrade) i can see that happening. It certainly does to me. However classical should be fine. I use my four strongest, with 3 health regen items, and they can break through entire empires without trouble, using autobattle. I suggest you give autobattle another try, just make sure you have your 2-3 strongest with health regen items, or the logistics skill.

Anddddddd.... one week later I have 160 now. How do they expect you to get 600? You can get as bonus: 70 from #4 mission Great Patriot campaign 150 from #3 mission Sengoku campaign 100 from #2 mission British campaign And for the Conquests... Discovery Age: India (1 star) - 75 China (3 star) - 45 You will anyway would like to get the medals from that ) So 600 is not a big deal, 250 is much more difficult )) The easiest way is Greece in Classics...
