Scimitar. A curved saber, common from at least the Ottoman period, it has become a very famous sword, used in many stories and games. In Dark souls 3, released in 2016, the Mercenary class starts with 2 paired Scimitars. EDIT: I'm getting too slow for this....

Sabots
The word "sabotage" appears in the beginning of the 19th century from the French word "sabotage". It is sometimes said that some workers (from Netherlands for some, canuts from Lyon for others, luddites in England, etc.) used to throw their "sabots" (clogs) in the machines to break them.
They're weapons of destruction! That one was a cool, but it's too late Arguer, it's really a tool but it can be a weapon.

They're weapons of destruction! That one was a cool, but it's too late Rapier, the puny little sword used for fencing or duels. Actually the rapier was a heavy sword used to disarm and severely injure past lighter armors. /skip

Changed, didn't realize there was Spatha, so it was supposed to be A, not R. Ironically, aruger ends with a R anyway.
