Hello! I'm fairly new to the game. I have Hannibal, Leonidas, Alexander, and Robin Hood. Is there anyone worth purchase in Lyon? I have enough to get any tier 1 or tier 2 in there.

Those generals (other than Leonidas) should be good for now. Coins are much easier to get than medals, and the daily missions in empire mode go faster if you use the general type it asks for. Thus, every coin general is worth getting. I'm in discovery, and only 2 of them I do not have. However, medals are different. You should only buy medal generals from Tier 3. They are much stronger and your free generals can replace most of the expensive second tier-for example, Hannibal is equal or not much weaker than every Cavalry general for purchase below 3rd tier. Not to mention that having to upgrade them makes them a bigger investment than they look. When you get to higher ages, more generals pop up. Medieval generals you might consider include: Li Shimin, probably strongest Artillery in game. Caesar, maybe strongest Infantry, but you already have Alexander. Attilla, one of the strongest Cavalry. Is more debatable, but some EFCers consider him the best. I have him and Li Shimin. BTW, some generals show up in Empire mode. You can check the pinned thread for how to get them. Saladin is one of the stronger Cavalry. Since he is free, you might consider him.

I highly recommend Caesar, while Alexander is good, Caesar is far superior. His healing skill can keep your generals alive in hard missions once it is upgraded to lvl 6. In addition, in the Imperial Age he upgrades to Legion, receiving a -50% damage from archers instead of -25%, while Alexander only gets Hoplites in Medieval Age. I saved up medals for Caeser, and now he's my #2 general after Saladin.

I would just play the campaign as from the early levels once you beat them you can get generals, like cleopatra from the Roman campaign(correct me if I am wrong) huo qubing from China campaign these are fairly good generals for the beginning of the game save all of your medals for gold ranked generals like li Shimin and or also save them for general upgrades as you progress in eras. also get items on your generals, as they can boost their power and defense and hp greatly

I'm going to try and save up medals for Li Shimin and Caesar.

I suggest you to only buy coin generals first. Together, with the starting free generals you should be able to progress quite far. Then after you get some feeling about the generals and skills in this game, you should decide what general combination is good for you. For example, I focus on cavalry, andrei emphasizes archery, while some other use balance team. This determines which generals you should buy from Lyon. For me, Attila is a must while Nobunaga (and later Nelson) is crucial for archery team.

Buy Caesar. You can also buy coin generals but generally they aren't very strong so don't upgrade them.
