"The Battle of Polytopia is a turn based strategic adventure. It's a game about ruling the world, fighting evil AI tribes, discovering new lands and mastering new technologies. Auto generated maps make each game a new experience, with unlimited replay value. Pick and choose among different tribes. Wander in the dark cold forests of Barduria, explore the steamy Kickoo jungles or claim the lush field of the Imperius empire."
This game is pretty new and seems exciting to me, the only downside is that the variety is limited, but I'm sure you can enjoy yourself with this game for a few matches. I hope it gets some more updates soon!

I played this game back when it first came out, it was plenty of fun. Only problem is like you said, not much variety. Gets old after a while.

Looks real interesting. I hope they add online multiplayer in a later update because this looks like the type of game that will work well with multiplayer.

Civilization and Europa Universalis both are incredible games and would have been awesome in multiplayer (theorically...), but ended up giving quite a horrible experience for everyone in comparison to the normal single player mode. A MP game in Civ3 can easily take over 1 and half years to complete even on a very small map, not a large map instead.

EUIV Has pretty good mp Pretty good for single player, pretty horrible for multiple players, that's just how it goes. I don't see how a group of players have enough patience to play together from the beginning to the end. Don't get me wrong, I definitely love that game and if it weren't for greedy DLC-hungry devs, I would have brought EU4 instead of EU3.

I used to play with a steam group that would all play until the end. And when it got boring the host just saved the map and hosted it later (we had dl mod so we could play savedgames online)
