I just reached 2300 medals, and I'm wondering if I should buy Nobunaga, or continue saving for Li Shimin. Right now I'm in Discovery Age and my main lineup is Caesar, Alexander, Saladin, Catherine, Robin Hood, and Cleopatra.

Nobunaga because:
1. He takes much less medals to be strong ( just ~2700 to get him on Ashigaru , then another 1200 to get him decent Leadership and Spy) than Li Shimin ( 3000+ ~1000 upgrading to Cannon) which is fairly mediocre because he is artillery ( he is very good again at level 6)
2.Artillery is not that necessary since you can attack towers with Alexander and Caesar without taking damage
3.You will be getting Bismark
4. You also have Cleopatra. If you feel the need for arty, upgrade her to Cannon since it is much better to have 2-3 range than just 3-3 range
5. As I said, Li is very good at 2 and 6 stars due to Fire Dragon, while Nobunaga is very good at 4 and 6 stars. Since you have a long way to Industrial Age, it is not advisable to use Li.

ODM makes a good point, You will get Bismarck-he unlocks for treasures at level 80.
However, Bismarck trades 100% no retaliation when attacking, for 50% damage to Cavalry. Thus, Bismarck arguably becomes weaker at level 6, while Li-Shimin gets stronger.
Therefore, you will get a free (basically) Artillery, but he cannot replace a good Artillery Like Li-shimin (who is probably the best)

Yes.. nobunaga at ashigaru is amazing, 1.5 times the damage to anything, so he can hit and destroy many things, his skills are also very good...very high attack, just need to watch out and cover him due to his lower defenses. if you have the paladin armor and you want to give it to him for more defense and health.

It is possible to compare them to two star players. But one of them (Nobunaga) plays the whole game without substitution, and the other is indispensable at opening stages and in the final. Besides you can find decent replacements (Bismarck). But at level 6 Li Shimin is arguably the most important figure in the team.
