So I have 490 literature, I am doing a India discovery age conquest atm for 75 literature, I will be able to upgrade after that ( will get some from dailys) should I upgrade to gunpowder? I cannot advance into campaign anymore too hard for me.

You should upgrade.
I see no reason not to upgrade to gunpowder age.

IMO it will not hurt you, it will help you! You can upgrade your team significantly now, and with new strength finish Discovery age campaigns.
Furthermore you can obtain keel sword (170 damage bonus) from conquests and spear (70 damage bonus) just upgrading to the Gunpowder age.
