When I was near the last building (I just wanted to see how tough those generals are), general inside it, simply left that building so I could occupy it the next turn. So I wonder: What was it - pattern of his behaviour or lucky AI's blunder? If the first one - then I deffinitely could use one general somewhere else..

He normally leaves the building to attack You. However in case You can't occupy it same turn (by killing this general before he leaves) enemy will recruit armored car next turn. The problem is that in case You will come close enough (to occupy it next turn) there is a chance that You will be killed same turn. There are 5 or 6 extremely powerful enemies and they will all attack. That's why You need to have as many generals as possible to attract their attention.

Only 3 cities to take :-): Volgograd Hulunbuir Los Angeles But Volgograd seems to be a hard nut to crack. Maybe, indeed it is necessary to replace Jhansi with Nelson... It is possible btw to break the line in the north. No problem with money (all buildings give 40 coins each), no sudden counter attacks, it is even possible to pound the enemy's generals with artillery But I'm not yet sure how (/whether) it could help in the long run...

In the north.. You mean to kill one of those overpowered defenders? it is a dead end anyway and takes too many turns to get those income buildings. I also thought that there could be a trick like in Los Angeles with possibility to go through the mountains, but no.

But I think it could be easier with archers only (they don't attack - therefore "Armor master" is silent) + artillery (burning effect). Then again 3 to 4 turns to defeat two generals and to take all buildings. Too slow...

Archers are a bit faster, but not fast enough to make it reasonable to spend turns on it.

In this mission Napoleon is far superior to Li Shimin. Towers counterattack every shot, and there are not many targets to make use of Logistics.

Yes, Napoleon with no retaliation and Plunder is great here. Maybe try to avoid attacking towers. There is only one obligatory tower. You could probably be able to occupy last building even if towers are still there.

You could probably be able to occupy last building even if towers are still there. That is the point! I have a clear strategic view now! I will ignore even that one obligatory tower! And I will not replace Jhansi with Nelson, but Bismarck with Nelson! 1. I will destroy one swordsman in the north like this (only with Nelson instead of Bismarck). And I will take all the buildings inside 2. Then Nelson, Jhansi and Nobunaga go to destroy one swordsman in the south (without bothering to destroy the tower). 3. Caesar, Barbarossa, Peter and Li Hongzhang meantime will go to take the western base (they can do it - I tried). I will use then both archer's barracks (money is not a problem anymore). 4. Li Shimin could go either way - Even to kill units in the see near that obligatory tower. Fire dragon is grat for that. 5. When Nelson, Jhansi and Nobunaga destroy one blocking general, I have to kill ONLY a green general inside. Not a problem at all with "Commanders" triggered. 6. All generals together will go to the last target!

Only Volgograd left!!! Almost succeeded with Andrei's plan, but had a problem. Some of my generals were too slow to join the finlal assault...

Ha! I didn't even realise you could "unlock" the two swordsmen guarding the South (screencaps of turns 5 & 15) until I read this When I did it I killed the one on the left with my archers, but I had to leave the inf general alive. Everything else was pretty similar though, allowing for different personnel (my lineup can be found here for anyone who's interested). Also I used Saladin to retake and keep the market only after deploying him in the team taking control of the South-West. Nobunaga & Jebe also helped with this then raced across the board and joined in the final push in the North East. Oh and I only took out one of the four towers, the one to the left of the stable.

andrei,Thank you for your great strategy which I followed as much as possible with my slightly different team. My three Artillery units (Li, Bismarck and Khalid) went east directly after clearing the SE tower (BTW the cavalry general in the SE changes sides after the tower is destroyed, but never actually got his hands dirty afterwards) and taking the southern city. They picked off the minor units, staying out of range of the artillery on the opposite shore. They waited for Caesar, Catherine and Nobunaga to arrive before attacking the last part. Incidentally the cavalry general vacated the last objective so if you are holding the other two it is game over as soon as you nip in. Also, make sure that your reinforcements for the last assault have the fastest boots on. Li Hongzang held the NW objective, Catherine, Nelson and Nobunaga cleared the SW. Nelson stayed there as per Andrei's strategy. I'm not sure Volgograd can be done without Nelson; his 3-range archery support and Archer Commander skill to support the invading machine-gunners seem crucial. I did have all the sets of Odin etc. So after 4 months (or was it 6) I only have Panama to go. I’ll try my "sit there for 200 turns" strategy... upload image

It is possible to do it without Nelson, as stoic used artillery instead (Bismarck?) in that role on his second run. Panama's not that difficult, just long, but you do have to be careful towards the end. Don't forget to post your team here when you finish; Catherine will be a new name on the list.

It is possible to do it without Nelson, I did it without gen support in SW corner. Crew was like this:
It was like this:
First of all quick attack South (leave market in SW unprotected for now):
Than Bismarck, Robin, Suleiman and Richard attacked tower with green circle, while Suleiman, Blucher, Nobunaga and Moctezuma attacked ranges:
When both teams finished, they reunited to attack southern central group of enemies: Here was one trick: let enemy swordsmen, which are guarding this place, attack you once, so they get full rage and activate armor, right before you kill tower. So you get two armors, which make you quite invincible, especially with Nobunaga's and Moctezuma's debuffs.
When you start to get income, put princess in left range, so you can buy machine gunners for 175. I did it in right, thinking, that my soldiers have more options where to go, but that wasn't right decision, as this spot is better to use for unit, which attacks enemies, but when you buy new unit, it doesn't attack first turn. Though I won anyway, so it wasn't so big problem.
It's very useful to encircle enemy gen with machine gunners like this:
After all money building in the South were taken, I have sent Moctezuma and Robin to take back market in NW. May be it would be ok with just Moctezuma, but anyway Robin is not very useful in last attack, so I have sent two gens to take my market back. All other gens went to attack center.
In the center except of towers I have killed only one archer, who was standing right from stables, just cleared the way to the target and ran inside.
In fact this was very unlucky try, as my Blucher got rumor before 2nd tower, which blocks way to the center. This was very painful, as I haven't only lost one of the strongest gens, but I have also lost his armor, which doubles my hp. Next turn Nobunaga got rumor and I have almost lost hope to win, but barely alive Richard captured empty stables. Once before I wasn't so unlucky, and I have kept stables for some 2-3 turns and was still able to keep them, but Robin and Moctezuma haven't taken SW market back (on 40th turn Robin stood next to empty market), so I have lost.
In fact, if I knew that leader skills combine and knew, that Nelson will get longbow, most likely my crew were a bit different. But to have more fun I haven't read any guides and have chosen such crew. Though it's not so bad too.
