Here's where I'm at (regarding relevant generals, not Leonidas)
1. Washington, no upgrades 2. Genghis Khan, no upgrades 3. Li Shimin, Lvl 2 Logistics 4. Alexander, Medieval age 5. Joan of Arc, no upgrades Barbarossa at 79%, Saladin at 8%
Empire Age & Lvl 27, 1946 medals
Here are the choices I see for medals (Saladin and Barbarossa are being fed the relevant treasures):
1. Buy Nobunaga: 350 medals to go 2. Upgrade Genghis' Braveness: I hear it's a great skill, and it helps his tendency to meet too many archers 3. Upgrade Li's Logistics: His survivability is weak, it could help him 4. Upgrade Li or Alexander to Empire Age: I feel like Li is better kept on his Fire Dragon until he gets cannons, but what do I know? As for Alexander, I think it makes more sense to wait for Lincoln
Please tell me what I should do. If you think there's a choice better than everything I listed, tell me!

He is weak. Either Alexander or Barbarossa for the Infantry vacancy, if You need it. If I start again I would focus on Barbarossa and won't spend medals on Alex. I would advise not spending medals on Lincoln nor Joan of Arc, as their blue stats make them incredibly weak compared to Alex and Barbarossa. I just bought Nobunaga myself, and he's incredibly powerful once you reach discovery age.

As for Nobunaga vs upgrading someone, where do you stand? Nobunaga is the main priority. And upgrade his Leadership and Spy to lv6 asap. That will make him Your key-team player. It is quite cheap and very effective.

I know I should buy him, but not sure about investing a lot in him as priority 1 Nobunaga is so good exactly because of his skills set. He debuffs both enemy's attack and defence. So let's say he is indispensable for any team. Further You'll need to decide what team You are going to build. Cavalry/Archer focused or it will be a mixed team.

Khan' Braveness up to the Max - is also top priority, in my opinion. A possibility to deliver damage (and indeed Genghis can deliver serious damage) without retaliation could be very important in team tactics...

And do not forget that first skill to max level is "for sale" in EW5. You will recive great discount (100 medals for each level - 900 in total - back to pocket :0)

Khan's Braveness, Washington's Logistics, Nobunaga. 3 priorities. Inf: Alex/Barbarossa/Joan of Arc. Barbarossa is neat in most cases, and Joan is no.1 anti-arty decoy. You have to upgrade Li to 3* anyway because he cannot go to lvl 40 with fire dragon.

Well, I think it'd make sense to wait with upgrading Li until the other chores, just to keep using Fire Dragon for a little longer, but I really can't keep it forever.

You can keep it forever but later on (I mean ability of course not weapon :0). In my expirience Fire dragon is good enough for Empire age campaigns. I think Discovery age is the right time to upgrade him and to give him cannon (without using catapult for a long time)...
