Hello all,
I just installed EW5 on my windows phone, and I am confused (to put it mildly).
I tried first two campaigns and now have Leonidas and Robin Hood as generals and Maria as princess. It was somehow fast, because all of it was automatical.
On one hand the game is much more complex, on the other hand it seems disorganized and chaotic.
Could you recommend me some basic introduction? Like, very basic.
1) I won't be able to do in-app purchases. EW4 is playable completely without money. Is EW5 too? I do not mind to play longer or more difficult, I just fear it wont be possible at all.
2) How many generals I can have? (How many slots for free.)
3) What means the level of game? Is it "my" level? I suppose on certain level I will be able to advance to new age?
4) What are literature, diamonds, perfumes for?
5) After completing a campaign, there was suddenly a map of Europe and cities with 50 minutes countdown. What does it mean?
6) And most important, is it possible to use healing kits within campaigns? I am not able to proceed to third campaign (China), my generals always die.
Many thanks in advance.

1. It is not entirely clear yet, but it seems to be possible. For example, european-war-4.boards.net/thread/5159/minimal-requirements-finish-defence-campaign. Napoleon is the only IAP and he could be replaced by free Bismarck. 2. As many as you wish, the number is not limited. 3. Yes, you are right. Level is necessary but not sufficient condition to advance to the new age. 4. Literature is another necessary condition to advance to the next age. Diamonds and other resources are some kind of currency (together with medals and coins). With resources you can build new cities and hire free generals (some are good, some are mediocre) and princesses (they give you useful bonuses in game), with medals you can hire generals in tavern and buy good equipment for those generals, with coins you can hire weak generals and buy poor equipment, and, again, coins are necessary to build new cities. 5. There are three modes in the game - empire, campaigns and conquests. Each one is independent but they are connected in some sense. 6. There are not healing kits (like in EW4), but there is equipment with healing power and generals with healing abilities. Some of princesses could also help you to heal your generals on tactical map. But first of all, they die because they probably are not strong enough for the the problems they should solve. But it is another question... You can also find useful information in threads above european-war-4.boards.net/thread/4272/overview-cities-princess-generals-itemseuropean-war-4.boards.net/thread/4116/campaign-conquest-empire-general-list

Basically, Empire helps you upgrade your generals. Campaign is how you progress through the game. Conquest gives you rewards for beating it. (Conquest is very similar to EW4, except you have to beat your allies in EW5 to win)

You do not need to pay to win, you just won't be able to get Genghis Kahn, Washington, or Napoleon but they all have great replacements Atila for Genghis, Nobunaga for Washington and li shimin or free bismarck(you need to be level 70 for bismarck) while IAP generals are amazing(i have all 3) they can definitely be replaced, also you get a gold infantry General alexander when you complete the alexander crusade campaigns. And he is amazing

Thanks to all. It seems EW5 is much more complex game than EW4.
Another question, on Empire map, I got some messages, like attack, battle, invasion into cities. What is the difference?
I clicked on battle, add my generals into slots, and there is 90 minutes time count. What it means? I have to wait 90 minutes until I can use my generals?

In 90 minutes those generals can go on more quests, you just won't be able to send them on more but anything else generals will always be available

In attack, you get 20 turns to take/destroy the objectives. In battle, the computer controls your generals and fights a large number of enemy troops and a couple generals. In Invasion, the computer controls your generals against another army of computer controlled generals. In missions, you send generals off for a period of time to get medals. Always do missions when available.

Missions will usually reappear every 12 hours, it is great to do them for their medals, to upgrade generals and skills or buy new ones or even itemz

Thanks again.
Well, it seems I am still at low level for this (level 6).
Empire mode: In battles there are five or six enemy generals, I have only three, so the result is always loss. And I think the AI is terrible, even I would attack better if I could.
Campaign mode: I am not able to finish with the Silk Road mission (Han empire). Huo is always killed before I could save him.
Conquest mode: Frankly, I do not even understand it. How it works? It seems it is the same as battles in Empire mode - i.e. too difficult for me just now.
I could of course buy items and generals, but they are quite expensive for my limited resources, and furthermore I found out that I cannot buy medals even if I want to - there is some internal error - maybe not related to the game but to the provider.
Is it possible to farm for medals like in EW4? For example by replaying scenarios from campaigns? If it isn't, it seems that my advancement will be more or less impossible...

When I just started the game conquest was confusing too. Great generals help and to get used to it I suggest playing as a powerful country and only fight a maximum of two enemies at once

That guide exactly describes my problem: "You have to keep up with Huo else he would get killed." Which I haven't been able to - until level 8 and buying some cheap boots. So now this is cleared. Thanks. I just need some more clarifications on conquests. I absolutely can't get what to do. I started Caesar, try to attack to some cities, and always lost. Or is it level 8 just too low for this? And just another question: Is it possible to sell items? If not, how many items total I can buy? many thanks in advance.

China is easier than Rome because of size and natural defence chokepoints, and a +20 turn ally with Angkor. There's a (more general) guide pinned in the ew5 section. I don't remember if you can sell items.
