That guide exactly describes my problem: "You have to keep up with Huo else he would get killed." Which I haven't been able to - until level 8 and buying some cheap boots. So now this is cleared. Thanks. I just need some more clarifications on conquests. I absolutely can't get what to do. I started Caesar, try to attack to some cities, and always lost. Or is it level 8 just too low for this? And just another question: Is it possible to sell items? If not, how many items total I can buy? many thanks in advance. I have no suggestions for conquest, but that it gets easier. I have never heard that you can sell items, but you will probably get like 30 generals through this game (As the coin ones are cheap) and you can just fit all the items on them. Unfortunately, that means you get no medals or coins for selling them, but its pretty easy to get medals in this game. Not super easy, but its good.

Thanks for the tip, but even with the help it seems very confusing.
I started China conquest, put all my 3 generals in cities, tried to attack neighbouring cities - and lost again. It seems I am still way behind the opponent units and AI - I am not able to win any battle/invasion/attack. My generals attack for 90-120 damage, but enemy generals for 250-300.
In campaign, whenever I have to go through fortification, it is impossible. The walls have 800-1000 HPs. It means 10 turns just to be able to go through.
In EW4, even without generals, I have been able to do missions (albeit barely) within the maximum number of rounds. Here, in campaigns, there is for example 15 turns 3-star, 20 turn-2 star, and 25 turn 1-star limit, but my army is completely annihilated in 10 turns.
It seems that the only thing I can do now are missions.
All in all, this game is so difficult for me that is slowly stops being fun.
/end of rant. Sorry.

Do not be confused. Take a deep breath :0) The only necessary thing in this game is internet connection every 12 hours (plus 1 or 2 minutes). Obvious reason of your failures is that your generals are not strong enough. The remedy is to improve your team. Two possible ways. 1. Forget about any strategic planning and improve your current generals. For example, Hannibal... Invest your medals (you can obtain some without effort just doing daily missions) in him. He has ability Braveness, upgrade it to the best possible level. I assume you are already in medieval age, so you can upgrade his unit as well (click + button on his portrait). He will greatly increase in his output. And so with other generals. 2. You can save your medals and buy Attila. He is very effective general right from beginning. Improve him and all your problems would be a long forgotten past... Well, at least for a while :0)

I thought one-star generals have maximum level 10 (two-stars 20 etc.), so I can't upgrade them further. I'll try this. Thanks.
That brave skill, not able to retaliate seems great, but does it trigger every time, or only after several turns, when there is that flashing scale icon?
And question about base units level. For example when I create unit in campaign, it has level 2, but enemy units have level 4 or 5. Is there possible to upgrade buildings for creating more leveled units?
And finally (for now) what does "hit" value mean?
Thanks.

Walls look tough, but almost all of them have a portion that's of a lower level (Lv. 1 to 3), which can be absolutely demolished by Alexander III. Just make trial and error by checking levels of the walls in a mission until you find it. Remember weapons triangle to beat campaigns: Archer → Cav → Inf → Archer and siege kills walls.

Stars only indicate lvl of a general) 2. Every skill has its probability increase. Lvl 10 of Braveness gives 100 percent probability. Some skills indeed need rage bar refilled. Braveness is not one of them, it is constant 3. Your units will increase their lvl through experience. 4. "Hit" is ability to strike without evasion ("Evasion" is ability to avoid strike). And remember very well what Albert S. Johnston said: arch>cav>inf>arch! It is not only a "general rule", it is of paramount importance in this game, especially at a latter stage.

Give Huo some good equipment and upgrade his stockpile to level 3. He can basically take out half the world for you (with some help, of course). Stockpile makes his health regen per kill, thus making those first/second era units at your mercy considering you one hit most of them.

What is general color? Is it some icon or what? I don't see any in the detail screen. So, basically, if my evasion is greater than enemy hit, I could avoid the damage completely? Yes, I got the arch>cav>inf quite quickly. Sadly the AI didn't. (Why is Robin Hood always attacking infantry in those automatic battles?)

Yes, I got the arch>cav>inf quite quickly. Sadly the AI didn't. (Why is Robin Hood always attacking infantry in those automatic battles?) There are 4 kinds of generals - gold, purple, blu and gray. You can find those colors on small portraits of generals. For example, Caesar has gold back color and Robin Hood blue. In principle gold generals are the best, purple are good and so on. But it is not the whole story. In fact, it is more complicated. Abilities and skills of a general are very important. Evasion is only probability. High evasion increases probability, but it is not very common in EW5. And,of course, you can do nothing to improve AI's behavior :0) Besides, AI is very subtle playing for himself :0)

Well, after two weeks of dutiful and careful missions playing, I am doomed. See for yourselves:
My level: 40, Empire age.
My generals: Alexander, Robin Hood, Joan of Arc, Huo, Hannibal, Leonidas.
In campaigns, I am stuck at Medieval age, Barbarossa's 4th mission. I know this is because of my weak generals.
And I found out that in battles/invasions/attacks my enemies are suddenly also in level 40, with rifles and cannons. So doing anything here is out of the question.
I know the obvious advice: build up your generals, so:
Could you recommend me which skills are the best? For example, Joan of Arc healing skill, is it worth upgrading? Are there bigger area of effect/greater amount /longer duration. For example, level 10: +150HP, for 5 turns, radius 3? Or Alexander Attack Master skill. It is +8 attack at level 1, what will be level 10? +100, +200?
Is there a nice table with all skills/values/levels?
And I was disappointed when I upgraded Robin Hood to three stars, that he lost his ability to attack at long distance :-( Are there any other bad moves I should avoid? For example, I thought of buying Yoshitsune, for his samurai skill (aka Mass Fire), but fear that he will lose it after upgrading to 4 stars...
At least in short time I will be able to get Barbarossa. I suppose he would be better than Leonidas.
Thanks for any advices/tips.

At least in short time I will be able to get Barbarossa. I suppose he would be better than Leonidas. Thanks for any advices/tips. 1. Don't be disappointed about Robin Hood, generals only get their special ability like that for that star rank, and when you upgrade them, they become normal units. On the other hand, by upgrading them, they become MUCH more powerful, and in addition, they get their special ability back when they reach 6 stars. Don't look at it like he lost his long range attack, but that he is really good against cavalry now. 2. Yoshitsune isn't a bad general for 3 stars, in fact he's pretty decent. I used him only during that age, and when I advanced to the Discovery age, I left him behind because he's pretty worthless without that skill. 3. Yes, there are some abilities to avoid spending medals on. Most of these are just far to expensive to put medals into at the start of the game. Attack Expert/Master, Defense Expert/Master, General, Marshal, Tower Healing, Cure Expert (Cure Master is worth it) and basically all the sniper/charge/explosive/formation ones. 4. Following that, there are certain points where you probably shouldn't upgrade abilities past and you just need to use your judgement. For example, you probably shouldn't upgrade logistics (a great skill) past level 7 because you don't need more than a 70% chance. Cure Master is good, but you don't need it past level 6 (extra range) because it gets really expensive. A rule of thumb is that some abilities get additional benefits at level 6, so that's when you stop upgrading it. 5. If you have trouble with walls, look for gates to smash, as they usually are the weak point. Alternatively, buy an artillery general, or upgrade Cleopatra's inspiration a bit. Sometimes if you can't break a wall no matter what, see if there are ways around because you might not be supposed to go through it. 6. If all else fails, just grind in empire, take cities and get equipment.

I just ignored upgrading Hannibal and Huo Qu Bing at all, but for conquests, you really need to have experience to win. Playing as Rome for Classic Age Conquest gives you an offensive advantage over neighbours. England - Prepare for a decisive take down by ammassing troops in the sea and Bruxelles to attack London. Carthage/Egypt - take Sicily, advance like Italy did in WW2 from Tripoli to Alexandria then Cario, while slowly moving through Spain & Portugal. Huns - you should ignore them. Get stronger generals to conduct capital/capital city raids and fortress raids, take out England(via London) within 2 attacks and manage your resources well.
