Has anyone managed to complete ew4 with only 4 slots yet?
Since all my gens and items just dissapeared the other day im now going for this quest... i had completed the game anyway.
Im currently at hre camp. Mission attack the french.. have completed most missions w 5 stars so far... I have sophia, isabella and arnold and im only buying trainers for the last slot mostly kutaisov and diez... thinking ill need fast gens in order to get lan... after getting lan i will train her with arnold to trade items, buff her cav and move to 5 stars and then get someone for the last slot which i wont be able to train...
Who do you think i should get for the last slot? Im thinking maybe golitsyn? Or dobeln or oudinot? The gen im missing the most is suvorov and oudinot with snare drum shpuld be just like suvorov right? Or is it better to go with 2 cavs and 2 art? Or shold i ditch sofia for victoria if i can manage to get her?
Not sure if i can get enough medals to train victoria anyway though, since I cant handle grinding very well... too boring, and I think I will need to use a lot of medikits later on especially for the brit campaign.

Honestly, I don't think the last campaign is possible without 6 generals. Especially the Navy missions. My generals are Sophia, Kate, Radetzky, Picton, Golitsyn, and Fatimah. I have made it to mission 7 with those but I hope to get more navy generals.

And when you reach the British campaign again, those generals that you have worked so hard to build will be next to useless in the Navy missions. So 6 slots is a necessity for now

On British campaign, 4 generals is possible but they need to be really strong. Also for some mission, especially the navy one, you also need to have some good items like propeller and cannon.

4 generals in the end game is going to be tough,no idea just how possible that is but 2 or 3 armored carriers (the items that make land units fight without penalty while in water) can help in the "sun never set" campaign.
Most likely going to need to swap items a lot during play and use healing too.

Yes! Possible is just the word I was looking for, and yeah got one of these armoured carriers will get one more later on. I think I will have to grind a lot anyway, fore those items and maybe put some navy stars on sophia and isabella. Maybe get kate at some point (before lan) not sure...
Its different playing with 4 gens, more tactics and they also level up faster. They are all completely battered up at the end of the missions.
I have to upgrade a lot in campaign mode to get resurces and wait for the cheapest trainers in the academy. Enjoying it so far. Thanks for good advices!

It is possible to complete all missions 5 stars with only 4 generals even without med kits, I know cause I don't spend real money either.
My generals back then were Isabella, Sophia, Maria and Fatimah, most importantly Isabella and Sophia. I have 2 horse artillery and 2 potent gunpowder for the two of them and switch weapons so they become super artillery generals being able to go far and hit hard. In later stage of the campaign, I essentially moved them right next to enemy so that they will get attacked and deal the high retaliate damage to faster clear the map. Snare drum is very important here.
My opinion is not to train move general in either Isabella or Sophia, it takes 2 Diez (1080 medal) to get the effect of 1 horse artillery (around 600). In horse artillery, you can use it on either of them while for trainer, only one benefits.
Armored carrier is important but not so much in the "sun never set campaign" as you might believe. As most of the troop you have are ships but not land units, it wouldn't help at all. Upgrading Sophia and Isabella with navy seems a waste of money to me too since trainers are very expensive and it's only for a single general. What i did was to buy 2 propellers and 2 of the plus 4 attack navy stuff. Using both the +4 attack stuff together brings you up to the attack power of maybe Sebestiani or Nelson and using both propellers together allow you to go quicker than either. Adding to that the high health (Isabella, Sophia and Fatimah all have 150 health and 8 regen) and the use of snare drum. They should be pretty powerful, very hard to kill and able to win you 5 star in any of the British campaigns, even if they aren't naval generals to begin with.
As for training, I only trained Isabella to 5 artillery, Sophia to 5 artillery and cavalry (not that useful) and Fatimah to 5 business and left Maria untrained. If you train your generals more carefully, such as putting the cavalry training i did to Sophia to Fatimah instead and buying Dobeln instead of using Maria for the last slot, you should have an even easier time than me.
Hope it helps

This really helped: I too only have 4 slots. Btw, in what order do the campaigns go?

French, Coalition, HRE, Ottoman/Russian, US, Britian I'm 90% sure.

This really helped: I too only have 4 slots. Btw, in what order do the campaigns go? Imperial Eagle and Coalition. Beating either of these will unlock Holy Roman Empire campaign. Winning will unlock Eastern Overlord campaign. To Rise of America. And finally Sun Never Sets.

Thanks! But one last question: you said Ottomans/Russia, does this mean that in certain missions you can play as Ottomans, and in others (in same campaign) as Russia?

Yes similar to one stage in HRE campaign, you can choose whether to play as Ottoman or Russia in one of the missions. The unique thing is that both bonus can be unlocked from that stage. Ottoman side has one bonues, while Russian side has the other. Also, in many cases it will be like Ottoman attacks Egypt and then the next mission will be Russia attacking Sweden etc.

And in one you can use either side. It would have no impact on the rest of the campaign though

French, Coalition, HRE, Ottoman/Russian, US, Britian I'm 90% sure. For a new player, I would recommend playing Coalition first because it is easier than the Imperial Eagle.
