Wow, really?
Evidently I'm in disagreement with you folks, because I think the game creators did an excellent job with their research in balancing the most notable generals of the era with game-playability.
There are 46 French generals, and 22 of Napoleon's 26 marshals are represented. That's pretty damn good.
The only notable exclusions in my mind, include:
Claude Victor (FRA) John Moore (GBR) Karl Mack (AUS) Friedrick Hohenloe (PRU) Joachim Blake (SPA)
Those exclusions are more than offset by the over 200 generals that are included, many of which I would not have thought to include, but are certainly worthy.

As I said, Lafayette. Most famous gen of French intervention in American Revolution does not exist in EW4. Nothing offsets him. Without Lafayette, the Conway Cabal might have succeeded, which would result in a drastically different timeline.

Yeah, if I was picking French guys that Americans have heard of, I'd certainly have included Lafayette in the list. But to your own point, Lafayette was most influential as an emissary for French intervention. His military career is not particularly distinguished nor did he ever command more than a division during the American Revolution.

Another thing is historical accuracy though. They added a good bit of battles in the campaign, could be better though, considering all the fake campaigns they made. Also, the fact the Buonaparte and Wellington (not to mention other generals) suck, and some bad generals are op is odd.

Well, as wangchengxy (the earliest user to mention it of what I can find, though it might have also been Erich von Manstein) aptly puts it: Easytech learnt history from their PE teacher.
