Seeing that the poll for this game has gotten 5 votes (as I type this), I decided that I should start this game and see what happens.
The game starts in 2017. Politics is entirely ignored and must not be brought up. No country has nuclear weapons.
A few things however;
1) in order to take over a state you need to fight three battles (so, for example on order to occupy Texas you need to fight for Dallas, San Antonio and Houston). This is the standard for all states (yes including the small states of New England and Hawaii). The dice system is to be used for this.
2) all countries have the same currency (the dollar). However, if you want to make your own currency then you will have to write it's exchange rate compared to the dollar as well (say, 1 Californian Dollar = 1 USD).
3) countries like UK, France, Germany, Russia, China as well as(the direct neighbors of the former USA) Canada and Mexico can play as well. However, these countries aren't necessary because the game isn't primarily focused on them, but on the states of the USA.
4) countries can trade with each other and can make friends/enemies with whomever they want to.
5) states bordering the Great Lakes can also make naval vessels.
6) the last thing is "keeping it simple and realistic". This is the most important thing that the game needs. Because in the Latin America game a few times things didn't go the way they were supposed to.
List of countries; (East to West).
