In the Campaign battles I noticed that the medal rewards go down if I try and fail, then try again. In what other way do we see diminishing returns?
Is it a viable tactic to logout once you pass the three- star turn limit? Or is this considered cheese, or even a violation of game rules?
Does the reward for finally getting a third star after multiple attempts compensate for the original defeat, or will there always be medals you never earned that you can never go back and get, (without restarting, that is.)
How does this apply to Conquest? If I complete the Axis version of 1939, does this also reduce any reward I'd get for replaying as an Ally? What about replays as minor powers?
Is there a document somewhere that explains this and the other rules of the game? Or, perhaps, this is a kind of meta-game devised by sadistic game developers: decipher the rules as you go, and restart your account when you discover you've made a catastrophic error!

Haven't played WC3 for a long time, but I remember you'll lose the grand total of: *Drumbeat* … … 1 medal. You will have to lose 80mins of your time to get it back from pyramids though. You can exit and restart level(no saves) In conquest, only one of each playthrough of each star level per era will give you medals, and Axis/Allies/WTO/NATO only determines allies. The others (as well as replaying) can only gove resources.

Ah, I found a non-problem. Thanks for fixing it, General Johnston.

Ah, I found a non-problem. Thanks for fixing it, General Johnston. I just realised it might be two medals for 1 star. But then again, most people just restart when they reach 1 star level in early campaigns, and you have medal wonders for later campaigns. Just an explanation for the loss of 1 to 2 medal(s): 50÷3 is 16.6 repeating. Easytech rounds to 16. 16.666...*2 is 33.33 repeating. Easytech rounds to 33. If I remember correctly, 1 star to two stars to3 stars is 16*3=48; 1 star to 3 stars or 2 stars to 3 area is 16+33=49 Correct me if I am wrong Max Otto von Stierlitz

I've dropped a campaign battle a couple of times when I messed it up and redo them without losing a medal myself. I don't really see it as cheese. As for conquests, it's 1 time reward for per star tier per side as Quintus Fabius said. And yes... the devs are pretty sadistic (or lazy if you look at it that way). This is why the forum is popular: excellent advice, and plenty of missing information pieced together by a fanbase.

I admit I am strange that way. I read the instructions for assembling Ikea furniture too. I recall back in the good old days that I spent many hours deciphering Avalon Hill rulebooks, and it's become a habit I can't break.
