I have the following generals:
Washington (lvl 5)
Saladin (lvl 5)
Alexander (lvl 4)
Li Shimin (lvl 5)
Nelson (lvl 5)
Bismarck (lvl 5)
Nobunaga (lvl 4)
Catherine (lvl 4)
And a bunch of worse generals.
I have 2140 medals, should I get Richard or what?

I think Alex is adequate. Spend medals on skills

That's what I meant, as in tier 1. The main idea behind this is to use her commander skill for your best generals (Nobunaga and Washington). It is an old dispute: how many generals with commander skill could be of great use for the whole team. Problem is that no golden generals have that skill and only 4 purple generals have it. So the player basically bound to use blue and gray generals. I think that 2 (in line) is enough. You have Nelson and you can buy Li... |

For example I use 2 lines with art (Bismarck and/or Li Shimin) and cav (Saladin) support.
1. Inf line with 2 commander skills -Barbarossa and Peter the Great and Caesar.
2. Arch line with 2 commander skills - Nelson and Li and Nobunaga.
Those lines could work together as well as separately.

BTW simple units could improve their stats as well postimg.org/image/5kvd2d9iz/So with 2 commander skills you can hire cheap archers (princess Li reduces 50 percent) and make them strong enough for supporting your team. So to your question: imo you do not need Richard, you need Li Hongzhang... |
