You dont need to have Richard, but if you do he is very powerful at 6 star and he has rumor and logistics he can last a long time and put enemies into chaos so if you are looking for a different inf General pick him. I ditched alexander because he had no way to regain lost health so now almost all of my generals have logistics lol
