I'm in Gunpowder Age and 395 medals. I also have 463 literature.

Nelson 5
Saladin 5
Li Shimin 5
Nobunaga 4
Bismarck 5
Catherine 5
Alexander 4

I have like $50 to spend on games, but I don't want to spend all of it on EW5. Is there any IAP that would be worth my time? Specifically generals.

Not at all! Napoleon is redundant by Li Shimin and Bismarck. Genghis is possible, but not needed anymore.
Maybe a medal pack could help.

I'd say Blucher, but experts may disagree I will agree, Blucher wins Saladin in everything except output and is a great member of the whole team. Well, as we all know, he costs 10k. |

Just imagine: Washington lvl6 - 2000 Nelson lvl6 - 1650 Saladin lvl6 - 1650 Li Shimin lvl6 – 2000 Nobunaga lvl5-6 – 1200+1650 More than 10 000 medals only for your star players! Do not spend medals now, if it is not absolutely necessary… |

Definitely save your medals for industrial, or if you feel like it start picking up legendary equipment...I think keel is amazing for defense might pick it up myself!
