Why artworks hard to earn? Also, if I use them for like to recruit a general or princess, would I lose them like other resources?

I believe it's hard to get artworks because you never get artworks from missions and there's the fact they don't appear often as rewards for campaign.
You will lose artwork like any other resource if you use them on a princess or general

Very hard to earn artwork at lower ages.. I am in gunpowder and each daily battle I get 8 or so but I get 10 artwork each
