Seriously, I can see Capitals like Paris getting one-shot or Budapest getting multiple raids by me and Holy Roman Empire but when the NPC empires fail, they do it without taking losses. However, when players do it, they will devastate the city and its towers. Any theories?

I have seen 6-unit teams attack a full city and come back with no health lost on them or the buildings.

I mean, the AI feels tougher as one progress through the eras on conquest but the campaigns, sometimes I whether "Decisive Battles" are meant to make players feel good with crushing seemingly weaker AI instead of the usual irritating ones.

In King Richard's Crusade IV: Knight's Glory, the player must destroy a Castle AND Saladin. I tied the Northern Barracks and Stables down with a couple of era 1 Calvary while occasionally letting the HRE advance. For the main theater, rushing the enemy with care is key to preventing archers and siege weapons from chipping troop HP off. Take the spawn points and raise some calvary to reinforce your army and you'll destroy the city. Eventually drawing Saladin himself out. I did not notice Babarossa advancing beside my main force until he took damage for me.

Basically made to buff the AI, but thats not all. The game supports the stronger AI, even if the weaker AI has stronger troops. The stronger AI can conquer cities that normally shouldn't be possible, perhaps another way to steamroll the game in it's favour.

Buffing the AI isn't bad, but I feel as if they use brute force a bit much. That's my only urk. Power over brains, ironically, for the AI, I guess.
