There are a lot of princesses in the game with varying abilities, in campaingns, which princess is more important to summon first? Troop recovery is good but as WC3 has taught me, Offense is THE best defence so there's no time to lose. Between increasung output of Treasuries and decreasing recruiting cost, which type of princess is more important to recruit and place on the field?

I do not think that there is a "golden rule". Situations are different, they demand different aproaches. I always keep one in reserve until I know mission well.

i generally use my income princess at the start of the campaign level and once my generals captured a forward building where I can recruit troops from I use a recruit princess there.
If the campaign level starts with a lot of coins than I use both at start

In campaign: 1-2 income (Except naval battles) 1 recruit (On the troops you will be spamming every round) 1-2 recovery (I would argue they are the most important, why: ) 1. If you are engaging a hard battle, putting a wounded general on one is straight boost to power 2. The strongest recovery princess heals 15% of total hp lost, most of the time going to be ~500 hp per round to the general who needs it 3. Generals are much more worthy than units since they have abilities and stronger stats, on strong generals, it can make it to a 1:4 coefficent (500 general hp = 2000 unit hp) 4. Hard fights can last 3-4 rounds so an early taking of some random building is giving you a huge advantage 5. They allow you to make a rest after a hard battle 6. As funny as it may seem, recovery is free (from the turn you used the princess to the end)

I think 1-2 income (the second only if you can use at least 3 princesses AND there are at least 2 income buildings worth it (e.g. 40+ money). Discount on the troops you'll be spamming, yes. Usually cavalry-line or infantry-line, but there are exceptions and are map-dependent. I never find recov princess useful unless you are going defensive, cuz too much time will be taken between sending the general back to the heal and back to the frontline.
There are always exception, but most of the time i just deploy income (most important, sometimes 3 income) and discount princesses.

Honestly, both tax and cost reduction are great, I use tax first because in campaigns we are usually not given a lot of buildings that give money, so we need to get it up, then use reduction princess to save some money and get units cheaper
