There are quite a few campaigns where things are not what they seem to be or require, such as Joan Of Arc 5: The Saviour. In this mission, to trigger King Edward's charge, one MUST seize the Northern spawn points. Then face King Edward followed by Robin Hood in the South. Any other campaigns?

There will be quite a lot tricky campaign like that on later age. In some tricky campaign , you should destroy fort or a general to make enemy become your ally (usually in this kind of mission you'll notice there are 2 enemies with different flag in one map). That's why I always first try to find walkthrough in this forum before enter a campaign mission. And try to read the text conversation that appear on game

Just encountered something similar on the first Gunpowder campaign. HRE was my ally and held the only objective that I had to defend from invading Vikings. Then suddenly they defect and turn against me.

Then suddenly they defect and turn against me. In the third Russian campaign the situation will be quite the opposite. If you can kill the general inside the castle (common theme by the way in similar situations), - all remaining troops will become your allies...
