Some appear to think he is great, while others think he isn't worth getting. I'm curious as you why this is. We already have a thread on the viability of Caesar, and Li Shimin is just generally good, so I figured we should have a debate about the third gold general we're given.
Skills: Assualt Master. Not bad, at all.
Rumor. Great.
Defense Master. Not the best, but also not the worst, we have to admit.
Stats: Not horrible. I'm a bit far in the game, with upgraded Atilla and Saladin, so I can't really compare them. Perhaps they're lesser than the previous two? Anyone care to confirm?
Unit Abilities: Mobility. Explains itself.
I forgot the name of it, but he gets an overall damage reduction. Not bad, but, again, not the
best.
I assume these meh attributes don't justify the price, which is why he's bad?

I never got him because of the price, his skills we not that cool for a cavalry general, braveness on Attila is a lot scarier than rumor (rumor is good but not as good as braveness on a cavalry general) but there are cheaper and better cavalry generals out there like Saladin Attila

Good meat shield (you can usually look at the 40% to all reduction as a 66.67% addition on health), but unable to attack without counter or regain health. Not bad, but also not THAT good.

What if his price was reduced slightly? Li Shimin and Caesar are worth their prices, due to how AMAZING they are, but 3100, for the worst gold general we have, is a bit much.

In Panama there are enemy's generals with def 600. They are almost immune to damage.
Suleiman with his skill has 437 + for example set of Keel + his ability to reduce damage. Maybe it is not that important to restore HP in his case...

I can understand Alex dieing somewhat quickly, but Saladin is one of the more durable generals you can get. In fact, he can probably live longer than Suleiman due to logistics, and the former's lack thereof and braveness. I advise rethinking your strategies a bit, friend. |

Suleiman isn't worth it. Saladin and Blucher are tougher, Atilla and Genghis punch better.

As a person who never ever uses free Saladin, I'm surprised he is so much better than Suleiman, the gold cavalry with cover. I understand if it amounts to nothing, but technically doesn't he have regen with a lucky crown, or god forbid, a paladins ring? Li Shimin is pretty durable with level 5 logistics.... (lol, but I think Napoleon is the way to go, with Rumor. Shimin is durable but has nothing special prior to fire dragon, still no skill) |
